This summer Prospect Heights Public Library installed a new back-up generator that will keep building systems operating despite future power outages. "Now we will no longer need to worry about our lights going out in the middle of a children's program, or losing power for air conditioning on a 90+ degree summer day," said Executive Director William McCully. "This unit will make our building safer and more comfortable for patrons for many years to come." Besides serving as a backup in emergency situations, the new generator may allow the library to save utility costs in peak load periods. It has already added the Library to the list of community agencies recommended as cooling centers during extreme summer heat.
