New Logo and Library Cards!

The Library has officially unveiled its new Library card which features our new logo and comes with a full size version and a smaller "keychain" version.

We invite you to visit the Library to exchange your old Library card for a new one, and then take a walk through all of the doors that your Prospect Heights Public Library card can open!

DVD HOT PICKS!

Our new Hot Pick collection of best sellers has been so successful, we've decided to include the newest, most popular DVDs as well! Just as with the best sellers, the DVDs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. These titles cannot be placed on hold and will not be sent out to other libraries. They are there for you to find on your lucky day!

We will, of course, purchase titles for our normal collection that will be used to satisfy holds and reserves. When the movie isn't as hot as it once was, the titles in the Hot Picks collection will be placed in our full collection.

Reading Maps Help You Find Your Way

The Prospect Heights Library is taking Readers Advisory to a new level with Reading Maps. These Maps go deeper into a book to give the reader more insight about the themes, characters, and even the small details that make a book special.

Visit our Reading Map wiki or jump to our first Reading Map on Neil Gaiman's American Gods and let us know what you think. We'll be adding new books roughly each month and they'll all be completed by different staff members, so you will see very different layouts and features as time goes on.

The Library now has a page on Facebook, the popular social networking site. You can become a fan of the Library's page if you have a Facebook profile. Just search for "Prospect Heights Public Library" while signed into Facebook and select "Become a Fan." You can view Library pictures, join in a discussion, check out Library events and get up to date "What's New at the Library?" information.

Our Youth Services Department has a new online service--Tutor.Com! Tutor.com connects you in real-time to a live tutor in an online classroom to work one-on-one on homework, studying, test prep--whatever you need help with. Help is literally minutes away! Tutor.com will be available daily from 2:00 - 9:00 pm, via the Library's website www.phpl.info from any computer with an internet connection. Have your library card number ready.

Never pay a fine again! When you sign up for Courtesy pre-overdue notices by email through the My Account feature, we will send you a Courtesy notice three days before your items are due. The Library will also email you when your holds become available for pickup.*

*Please note that email notification of holds replaces hold notification by phone.

Color copies and computer prints now $.50!

Color photocopies are now available at the Library for only $.50. Computer print-outs can also be produced in color, from the Internet, photo editors or Microsoft Office products like Word or PowerPoint. Ask at the Information Desk for details or assistance.
