The Alchemist

The Alchemist presents a fable, based on simple truths by Brazilian storyteller Paulo Coehlo who introduces Santiago, a shepherd boy who one night dreams of a distant treasure in the Egyptian pyramids, and so he's off: leaving Spain to literally follow his dream. Along the way he meets many spiritual messengers, such as a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself a king, a camel driver, a well-read Englishman and an alchemist. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. What starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasures found within. Transforming the power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts.

This book is a true story about Richard LeMieux. He had a good job, beautiful home, wonderful family and lost it all. He became homeless and his family rejected him. When Richard attempted suicided on a bridge, his wonder dog Willow began barking in the van; he heard him and went back to his dog. Richard and Willow slept in his van. He would eat meals at the Salvation Army. This book is about all of the other homeless people that he met along the way as well as his eventual relocation to his own apartment.

Marley and Me

This is a wonderful book especially if you are a dog owner.  Marley was a cute Labrador retriever who grew into a 97 pound steamroller.  Marley got into everything and chewed up whatever was in his sight   He was also a very loyal dog.  He could be very sweet and loving with his owners but also very destructive.  This book is a true story of "Life and love with the worlds worst dog".  It is a very emotional book especially is you own a dog.  I highly recommend it.
