This DVD of the BBC-produced 3-part dramatic series is entertaining, informative, and visually beautiful. As Claude Monet reconsiders his long life in art, we are introduced to many of the leading personalities of French Impressionism--a new way of seeing struggling to overcome its pejorative label. Taken from the writings of the Impressionist artists themselves, the script is visually enhanced by numerous art works. The viewer gets to know Renoir, Manet, Degas, Cezanne, and Monet individually and as part of the new artistic movement they create. An interesting added feature about Monet completes this illuminating set. Highly recommended!
